Irish Brown Bread

Ingredients

200 gr wholemeal flour

100 gr white flour

50 gr pinhead oatmeal

50 gr wheatgerm

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp bicarbonate of soda

1 egg beaten

150 ml buttermilk (maybe more)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 190°C.

Mix all the dry ingredients.

Beat the egg, add 150 ml of buttermilk.

Add the wet mixture to the dry one.

Mix until you get the consistency of a wet dough (I added buttermilk little by little).

Transfer to a greased loaf tinBake for 55 min.

Once cooked, turn off the oven, take the bread out of the tin, turn it upside down and return to the oven to cook the bottom.

I added sunflower seeds in the dough and sesame seeds on top once the dough was in the tin.You can leave them out or add anything you fancy (nuts, seeds, dried fruits).
