Ingredients

10 gr of Carrageen Moss

240 ml water

Flavours

Lemon, honey, turmeric, ginger, vanilla essence, etc

Instructions

Soaked the Carrageen Moss in a bowl of cold water for 15 minutes.

Discard the water and place the soaked Carrageen Moss in a pan with the 240 ml of water.

Bring to the boil. Simmer for 15 minutes. The Carrageen Moss should break up and the liquid thickens. Strain the liquid through a sieve, mash up the Carrageen Moss in the sieve to extract as much as possible. Let it cool down for a while if you're adding raw honey to it, otherwise, the honey properties will be destroyed with the heat. Add lemon, honey, ginger, turmeric, etc according to your taste.

To my mixture, I added the juice of 2 lemons (for its antiseptic properties), grated turmeric (for anti-inflammatory purposes) and raw honey (for antibacterial and soothing properties). This keeps about one week in the fridge.

You can get Carrageen Moss in most health food shops. The jelly you get at the end is good to relieve sore throats, coughs and cold. It's an ancient Irish recipe that have been used for Centuries in the West of Ireland, and especially on the Aran Islands, where Carrageen Moss is wildly available. Take a teaspoon (or tablespoon if you prefer) every morning and evening.
