Homemade Vanilla Extract



Ingredients

A few vanilla pods

250 ml vodka (or any other alcohol, rum or bourbon works well too)

Instructions

Take a couple of vanilla pods that you've scrapped for a recipe and maybe one fresh vanilla pod split in two.

Keep the seeds. Transfer them in a bottle. Cover with the alcohol. . Leave the bottle in your cupboard for at least a month.

After a month or so, your vanilla extract is ready to use. Enjoy!

Tip:

The longer you leave the alcohol and the vanilla pods together, the more infused the extract will be.

Once you've used about half the bottle, top up with fresh vodka.

 

I used vodka for my recipe as the flavour is neutral. But you can use Bourbon or Rum. It will give the extract a more subtle flavour
